A guide to everything you need to know in your engagement season

First of all, congratulations on your engagement! This season goes by so quickly, and I truly believe your engagement photos should feel like a celebration of it, not a stressful item on the wedding checklist.

My goal is to create a session that feels natural, romantic, and full of movement. You do not need to know how to pose, act, or “be good in front of the camera.” I’ll guide you through the entire session so you can focus on being together!

Think of this less as a photoshoot and more as a date night that happens to result in beautiful photos.

Why an engagement session?

Your engagement session is one of the best ways for us to get to know each other before the wedding day.

During our time together, you’ll learn how I work, get comfortable in front of the camera, and discover that being photographed can actually maybe be fun. By the time your wedding arrives, you’ll already know what to expect, which makes portraits feel much more relaxed and effortless.

Many couples tell me that their engagement session was the first time they realized they didn’t have to “perform” for photos, and that’s exactly the experience I want for you!

Choosing a location

The best engagement photos come from locations that match your personalities and the overall feel you’re drawn to. Somewhere that can relate to your relationship!

Some questions to ask yourselves:

  • Do we love nature, gardens, or water?
  • Do we prefer a more elegant, editorial look?
  • Would we rather explore a city, a garden, or wander through a field at sunset?
  • Is there a place that already means something to us?

You don’t always need to choose the most dramatic location. Beautiful light and genuine connection matter far more than a famous backdrop.

Highpoint Scenic Vista


If you are looking for a field vibe with more sunshine and a stunning sunset this is the place for you.

Parque Ridley Creek

This has the architecture mixed with a whimsical greenery! If you are looking for a smaller version of both Winterthur/Longwood gardens.

Lancaster County Central Park



If you want a simple field that is easy to get to and central to Lancaster this is for you!

Chambers Lake

This has a mix of water and field if you are looking for a more outdoorsy feel.

Winterthur Gardens


Straight out of Pride and Prejudice this is one of my favorite locations! It has architecture, greenery, and a beauty that is hard to find elsewhere!

Lancaster City


If you want the downtown vibes this is the place to go. Always a busy scene that makes for beautiful vibrant photos.

SUPPLY Studio


This is one of the most unique locations where we can have so much fun with color, and lighting! This studious perfect for a more editorial session.

Native Lands State Park


Very Similar to Lancaster County and Highpoint, this is another field that comes straight out of a book!

Harrisburg Capitol


Again, a downtown vibe with maybe some larger architecture if you are looking for more drama. This is perfect for anytime of year as well.


Conestoga House and Gardens


A stunning setting in a historical beautifully kept Lancaster County Garden setting.
